"Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart"
1 Peter 1:22
1 Peter 1:22
Step One -
In May 2020, The Mission Church received some formal complaints and as a result we commissioned Paul Harrison of Christian Safeguarding services to undertake a full and comprehensive Independent Safeguarding Culture review. Paul prepared an outline of what he covered and the scope of that review, which can be found below.
Step Two -
In conjunction with requests made by The Charity Commission, Mr Paul Harrison completed The Independent Safeguarding Culture Review, at the beginning of August 2021.
Step Three -
Copies of this report were distributed to both the Charity Commission and to those who brought the complaints on 5th August 2021.
Step Four -
It was agreed by the Trustees that the full report and implementation plan would be made available on Friday 27th August 2021 to both members and non-members and the general public. (see below)
Step Five -
Updates from the implementation plan will be made available on this page on a regular basis.
Step six - After discussion with Paul Harrison it was felt that it would be helpful for personal apologies from Mark Skinner and Ian Fearn to be sent to the people who raised the initial concerns. These have now been been completed and sent. (January 2022)

Formal response from the Trustees
"The Trustees of the Mission Church would like to publicly state their full acceptance of the Independent Safeguarding Culture Review conducted by Christian Safeguarding Services and published on 27th August 2021.
It is clear from the report that while not our intention, we as trustees have not always fulfilled our responsibilities when it comes to the running of the charity especially when it comes to the 9 areas of concern highlighted in the report.
We wish to make a full and unreserved apology for our failings in those areas.
The Trustees are fully committed to carrying out every one of the 31 recommendations made in the report and that work has already commenced.
We would like to thank Paul Harrison at Christian Safeguarding Services for all the work he has carried out and all of those who took time to contribute to the review.

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
